Name: Niklaus Mikaelson Door: Door Pass Canon: The Vampire Diaries Verse Canon Point: The Originals 5x13 "When the Saints Go Marching In" after he and Elijah, his brother, sacrifice themselves. Age: Born some time before 990AD, over a thousand years old, definitely 1034+. He looks to be in his early twenties. Appearance: Joseph Morgan History: Here. CR AU (Optional): N/A Personality: Positive Trait: Strong-Willed It is almost impossible to sway Klaus into any direction because he is quite strong-willed. Often, he has a one-track mind and it is almost impossible to change his course of action. I say almost, because it takes actual incapacitation. Reasoning with Klaus rarely pays off. But, this is a positive trait because it keeps Klaus' convictions strong. Klaus is actually quite a sympathetic character and though he does incredibly questionable things, he does it for what he feels are the right reasons. Nothing will stop him from having his curse lifted. He concocts an entire story about a fake curse and floats it for hundreds of years, all to eventually unleash his inner werewolf. His strong-will motivates him as an individual and keeps him on track. He can be driven to obtain something, such as the cure for vampirism, or, to track someone down in order to, likely, kill them. He only ends his hunt for Katerina Petrova (after hundreds of years,) because he decides to and still, he tortures her for good measure. His strong will is illustrated in his many plans, preferring to have not just a plan A, but plans B, and C. This is shown when he makes sure he has a vampire and a werewolf for his big sacrifice in order to break the sun and moon curse. And, when he believes his plan is the best plan, he will ensure that is the plan that moves forward. Klaus does not break easily. He endures pain, hardship, years on the run and years being tortured but he remains. He fights off the Hollow for as long as he can. His strong-willed determination sticks with him for hundreds and hundreds of years. While his opinions and behaviors evolve, his will never waivers. Negative Trait: Cocksure Klaus Mikaelson believes that he is always right. A majority of the time, he is not. But, he believes it! He lives in a perpetual state of superiority, often coming off as elitist in how confident he is in something. Because of his cocksure attitude, he can come off as condescending often expressed with snark or sarcasm, because he is right. His plans, his opinions, his thoughts, and his prejudices are all the right ones. He has lived several life times over so he believes there is nothing he has not seen. Often he also believes he's the smartest in the room, always the strategist. His cocksure over-confidence often gets him into trouble as he tends to make decisions for everyone without consulting them. This may be seen as betrayal, but Klaus always has reasons for what he does and those reasons are literally: he is right and they are the right reasons. His reasons boil down to: "BECAUSE," and often they aren't reasons at all, but excuses. But, he backs up every decision he does make, often not backing down because of how cocksure he is. This keeps him from any and all apologies. There is very little place for humility in how cocksure Klaus happens to be. Often his cocksure attitude can also come off as elitist. His cocksure attitude used to be packaged with a superiority complex but he has backed off of that a great deal. Often he acts impulsively because he believes he is in the right and doesn't wait for any other opinions on the matter. He calls himself the King of New Orleans unironically and works at undermining the 'current' king Marcel, all because he still believes he has the clout. He is JUST THAT GOOD. Negative Trait: Traumatized Klaus Mikaelson is a traumatized individual. Often this comes out in his repetitive behaviors. History repeats itself for over a thousand years. These behaviors are built on a childhood of abuse, lies, and violence. As a child, Klaus never felt like he belonged in his family, having never been strong enough to earn his father Mikael's respect. Mikael is physically abusive, turning his nose down at his son and ridiculing him to his face. After being turned and discovering his mother had had an affair, Klaus learns he is not his father's son and that only further drives a wedge between him and Mikael. Mikael also slaughters Esther's lover, Klaus' real father, and his village. After Klaus and his siblings flee, they take to going on the run from their father, now a self proclaimed vampire who hunts vampires. Klaus also learns of deep-seeded deception on his mother's part. One of the reasons he is so weak as a child, is that Esther spells a starling necklace she gives him, so that he will not have the strength to kill someone (and he won't activate the curse of the werewolf) and her secret affair will not be found out. Because of this trauma he struggles deeply with trust issues. People lie, they betray, it's in their nature. But he takes it no better despite knowing and ultimately assuming it will happen. But he assumes it will happen because that is what he knows. His mother weakened him and his father hated him and he never belonged. Mikael hunting them and the trauma that he can never escape triggers a deep paranoia that follows him his entire life. Everyone is out to get him, his family, his daughter... Sometimes, he believes it is his family out to get him. Klaus is his father's son, using his trauma to mistreat and punish his siblings like he was once mistreated and punished, preferring to dagger them into submission cart them around - as LITERAL reminders of his years and years of trauma. He is so traumatized that when his real father is brought back to life (it's a long story), their bond is too good to be true and he kills him in order to keep his daughter a secret. All because everything comes back to how he was raised and who his parents were. (It is revealed that Klaus killed their mother and the first time around, Klaus kills his father as well.) His trauma makes him the judge, jury, and executioner. It also makes him extremely temperamental, quick to anger or quick to lash out, just like his father. Negative Trait: Unforgiving Klaus has a long memory, often holding grudges over hundreds of years, against one-time enemies, recurring enemies, and even his family members. He has gone so far as to punish his family or let them die because he believes they deserve it. By the time he comes around, usually their fate is set in stone and still, he barely acknowledges that he could've acted any differently. If he or someone he loves is betrayed, debased, or wronged, the culprit better watch out. What's worse is that in being so unforgiving, some of the time, he is the one that gets his revenge. His lack of forgiveness can come off as angry, tyrannical, and sadistic. He will taunt someone, remind them of what they did, or why he's motivated to get his revenge or just make their life a living hell. This can come off as quite heartless and cold. But, he is not detached. No, often he is the primary torturer, or the brains behind the revenge operation, all because he can't get over it. While he may thaw over time, that is not forgiving, and you can be sure he will never forget. Powers and Abilities: Being part vampire and werewolf means he has enhanced reflexes, strength and speed. His five senses are amplified, but the most are hearing and scent. He also feels things very deeply. Because he is an Original vampire and part werewolf, he is shown to be stronger and faster than regular vampires and his siblings. Inventory: + a set of art supplies + a spelled bracelet that kept the Hollow at bay before he sacrificed himself + his phone, complete with two voicemails from Caroline Forbes, and pictures of him, Hope, and his family Samples: Actions and Thought but let me know if you need anymore. |
